BASEBALL TREASURE­™ PLAYERS TAKE OVER WASHINGTON FOR THE ALL-STAR GAME™

The 89th Major League Baseball All Star Game™ is schedule to take play Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park™ in Washington D.C. On Sunday evening, MLB® revealed the rosters for this annual Midsummer Classic. The All Star Game­™ brings together the American League™ and National League™ in an exhibition game that showcases baseball’s best. The starters are chosen by fan vote while the reserves are selected by active players and the managers chosen to lead the teams.

In total, there are 12 players selected for the All Star Game­™ who are also featured in Baseball Treasure’s™ first set of collectible coins (7 starters and 5 reserves). This inaugural set highlights one player from each of the 30 MLB® teams and immortalizes them in a one ounce .999 copper or silver coin. Careful consideration went into selecting the player to represent each team with performance as one of the main factors.

Baseball Treasure’s™ cover boy, José Altuve, is the highest overall All Star vote getter. This 6 time All Star is following up his 2017 AL MVP season with another impressive year. One of the premier second basemen in the MLB­­® is joined by a deadly outfield is comprised of three of the players on Baseball Treasure’s™ most sought after coins.

Mookie Betts is the next highest vote getter with 4.3 million. With this selection he has earned his third consecutive All Star Game­™ appearance. His starting role is fitting as he is currently in the middle the best season of his career and is only 2 home runs of tying his total for all of last year.

Mike Trout was fourth in All Star Game™ voting with 3.7 million votes. Although he is only 26 years old, this is his 5th All Star Game™ appearance. He has dominated this Midsummer Classic in previous years and has received the honors of All Star Game MVP™ two years prior. In previous games he has batted .462 with a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Aaron Judge is the one player Baseball Treasure™ selected to be minted into a special gold coin. He is following up his Rookie of the Year campaign with an impressive sophomore season worthy of a second consecutive All Star Game™ start.

 

Freddie Freeman is the top vote getter in the National League™ and third overall with 4 million votes. As the face of this Braves™, their unquestionable leader is once again putting up MVP caliber numbers and is rewarded with his third trip to the All Star Game™.

Nolan Arenado has been a part of the All Star Game™ for the last 4 years and has earned his second start in a row this season. He is a five-time Gold Glove™ winner who also has boasts impressive batting numbers and is tied for the most home runs in the National League™ with 22.

Bryce Harper is 25 years old and is starting his fifth All – Star game. Harper is putting up impressive power numbers with 21 home runs and 50 RBI's.

  • Buster Posey → San Francisco Giants™, C

  • Yadier Molina St. Louis Cardinals™, C

Out of the 30 Baseball Treasure™ players who are featured in the first set of coins, 12 will get playing time in the All Star Game™. These players have exhibited offensive star power and defensive prowess over the first half of the season. They have shown why Baseball Treasure™ decided to select them as the team representative for this first set of coins.
